Day 2 at New Hope
After a good night's sleep (for most of us) and a delicious breakfast, we met together as a team to discuss Philippians a little bit then went on a walk with Keith to see the New Hope Pastoral Training Institute site. In addition to biblical and theological training, the PTI site is used to instruct local pastors in farming techniques that they can use to effectively provide for their families.
We arrived back in time for lunch then heard about the sponsorship program here at New Hope. Next, we sat down with Pastor Paul as he shared the story of his life, how he came to New Hope Uganda as a child, and how the Lord used the tragedies of his life to shape him for pastoral ministry and his present work at New Hope.
After dinner, we met the Samuel Family, which is one of the family groups used to provide care for the neediest of the needy fatherless children here at Kasana Children's Centre. We are all very excited for the extra time we will get to spend with Samuel Family starting tomorrow and throughout the rest of our trip.
We ended our day at the McFarland's house again this evening, reviewing the details of our day and sharing a birthday celebration for Mzee ("honored older man") Fred.
Tomorrow will be a work day for us, and we are looking forward to using our hands to serve our brothers and sisters here in Uganda. Thank you again for your prayers! As promised, below are a few pictures from the last two days.
